100 Mile Walk for the Right to Education
Iván J. M. Villasbôa and Bernie Whitton walked from the King-Kennedy Monument in Indianapolis, Indiana to the Ohio River and Kentucky border at Madison, Indiana. The trip began on the 26th anniversary of the assassination of Salvadoran Archbishop Romero, and after walking in snow and rain the walk ended 6 days later when Iván and Bernie crossed the Ohio River into Kentucky. The pair raised over $4,000 to support opportunities for youth in rural El Salvador.

Several Indianapolis-area residents spent an afternoon hearing about Iván and Bernie's adventure and CoCoDA's work, including the Communities for Youth Leadership campaign which is the primary beneficiary of funds raised by the walk and some other news related to Central and Latin America. The program concluded with a showing of the film Romero, a truly powerful film about the life and death of Salvadoran Archbishop Oscar Romero and the war in El Salvador.
